City Guide – Barcelona
The port neighbourhood is best at sunsets or Sunday brunches. For the last one, visit Brunch & Cake for the best (and healthiest) chocolate smoothie out there. And because cake could never be enough, make sure to try some truly authentic Spanish churros for a sugar rush that would keep you going till the sun goes down… and beyond!
The place for both dinner and drinks. The owner himself is happy to be at your service (and could very possibly be the only one out there). The atmosphere is chilled, yet sophisticated and cool!
The W is probably the most iconic hotel. If there is one party you should go to in this city of non-stop fiestas and , it is the one at the top floor bar/ nightclub.
The Barrio Gótico/ Barri Gòtic
The Gothic quarter is the ultimate place to get a glimpse of the real Barcelona. Strolling down the tiny streets of this neighbourhood takes you back to the gothic times when Spain was ruled by the Catholic church. Nowadays, downtown Barcelona is a truly magical spot. It also offers a cooling escape from the busy city centre.
Paseo de Gracia
Both a tourist and a shopping attraction, this central avene is the meeting spot for culture, history and modern life. It is also the location for one of Antoni Gaudi’s most popular architectural achievements – Casa Milà. If you get hungry on your stroll, simply pop in one of the tapas places for a truly authentic Spanish snack.
Mercado del Boqueria
Possibly one of the most Instagramed places out there, be ready to face the crownds of both tourists and locals in the pursuit of the freshest and sweetest fruits and smoothies in the whole of Spain. Make sure to get the seasonal ones, though as even in Barcelona the fruit gets bitter in winter.
After a long stroll down the coast line, Soho House is the spot for a nice grass of wine, a mojito and friendly chat! The interior is my dream come true – gives you the feeling of being in a Spanish villa miles away from any form of civilization! The food takes you to the moon and beyond and if you feel like a sweet siesta after all the sangria and talks, the good news is there are rooms upstairs, which do not disappoint.
The Serras Hotel
If you want to experience Barcelona in a truly luxurious way, then The Serras Hotel is the place to book. What better way to experience the city than enjoying the astonishing view from your room while sipping on champagne and taking a bath. Cheers!
