Have you caught yourself craving something sweet after dinner or as a pick me up snack mid afternoon, reaching for the chocolate and then feeling guilty for not resisting the temptation?! Sugar cravings are something normal, nothing to worry or feel ashamed of and definitely not something to forbid yourself. Of course, there are some better sugar options than others – I personally love anything sweet. And when I have it I listen to my body of how much it wants. Once your body is satisfied with the good stuff, if would not crave the junk – I promise! And by good stuff I mean natural foods, which nourish your body and your mind. Now, on to the recipe. All the ingredients are natural and will give you boost of energy without sparking up your blood sugar. The dates will satisfy your sugar cravings, the oats are an amazing source of slow-releasing energy, which will keep you satisfied for longer. The cinnamon is an amazing spice as it controls your blood sugar, so you won’t crave anything packed with white sugar. Finally, I roll these energy bombs into some coconut or some carob powder – the carob gives it a chocolate taste without the caffeine in the cacao bean, while the coconut is my personal favourite flavour.
For the recipe
- Cinnamon (optional)
- Carob powder (optional)
- Dried coconut flake
- Chopped nuts (optional)
- Vanilla / peppermint drops (optional)
Simply mix all the ingredients together in a food processor or blender. You can really play with the proportions – if you want it sweeter you can add more dates, some maple syrup or agave. If you want you can also add vanilla or peppermint drops or if you want to add nuts you can shop any you like and roll the balls in them.
